I feel particularly connected to Uluru (Ayer’s Rock in Australia). I spent a few years in Australia for work, and I was fortunate enough to travel across the continent. I visited Uluru and spent about a week camping in the area. I found the entire experience to be very rewarding – some of the views that I found and the people that I connected with made me truly appreciate our beautiful planet and the joy of traveling.
What I found the most rewarding was the respect that I feel was given to the First Nations in the area. It is considered very disrespectful to climb on the rock, as the whole site is considered sacred. By enjoying the view from afar, I was able to appreciate the beauty of the area, and respect the customs and beliefs of the local peoples.
